Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine

Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine (Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine) was founded in October 1954 as one of the first provincial-level TCM hospitals established in China. The first president, Ye Juquan, was a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the hospital name was inscribed by Guo Moruo. After 70 years of development, the hospital has become a National Medical Center construction unit, National TCM Inheritance and Innovation Center construction unit, National TCM Clinical Research Base, and National TCM Regional Medical Center output unit, ranking first in Jiangsu Province for outpatient and emergency visits for consecutive years, with 7.32 million visits in 2023. The hospital operates four campuses (Main, Zidong, Jiangning, and Zhongshan), with 3,300 open beds and 5,600 staff members. It has 6 national key clinical specialties, 12 key specialties of the State Administration of TCM, 12 national TCM advantage specialties, and 5 national regional (TCM) diagnosis and treatment centers, covering key disciplines including spleen and stomach disease, nephrology, pediatrics, otorhinolaryngology, nursing, and emergency medicine. The hospital has assembled exceptional TCM talent, with 5 National TCM Masters, 7 National Famous TCM Doctors, 5 Qihuang Scholars, 1 Changjiang Scholar, 43 experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, and 89 provincial-level famous TCM doctors and famous integrated Chinese-Western medicine experts. In international exchange and cooperation, the hospital serves as a WHO Collaborating Center for Traditional Medicine, International Acupuncture Training Center, and Jiangsu Provincial Foreign Teaching Hospital, annually receiving overseas students for TCM training and acupuncture studies. It pioneered the establishment of authentic medicinal herb planting bases nationwide, with planting area exceeding 350,000 mu, producing 28 dosage forms with nearly 200 hospital preparations. The hospital has received numerous honors including National Provincial Model TCM Hospital, National Top 100 Hospital, National Civilized Unit, and National Humanistic Care Hospital, demonstrating its outstanding position in the TCM field.
