Changzhou Second People's Hospital / The Third Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University

Changzhou Second People's Hospital, established in 1937, has developed into a modern Grade A tertiary comprehensive hospital integrating medical care, teaching, scientific research, prevention, and emergency services. In July 2022, it became the main unit of Nanjing Medical University Changzhou Medical Center, and in July 2024, it was officially designated as the Third Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. The hospital operates two campuses, Yanghu and Yanling, with 2,500 approved beds and 3,316 staff members including 1,155 with senior professional titles, 182 with doctoral degrees, and 822 with master's degrees. In 2025, the hospital recorded 2.5774 million outpatient and emergency visits, 128,200 hospitalizations, and 77,601 surgeries including 33,513 grade-four surgeries. With 57 clinical and medical technology departments, the hospital features one provincial medical key discipline in tumor therapeutics, 20 provincial clinical key specialties including general surgery, orthopedics, endocrinology, gynecology, thoracic surgery, cardiology, respiratory medicine, oncology, radiotherapy, and gastroenterology, and one municipal clinical medical center for gastrointestinal diseases. The hospital has established an international expert special clinic for digestive endoscopy, inviting Professor Saito's team from the National Cancer Center of Japan and Professor Yagi's team from Niigata University for regular consultations, and has built exchange and cooperation platforms with medical institutions in the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Switzerland, Japan, and Hong Kong, as well as academician workstations for Li Jieshou and Lang Jinghe. As the first National Postdoctoral Research Workstation in Changzhou's healthcare system, the hospital has hosted 74 postdoctoral researchers over five years with 33 completing their training, and houses a National Standardized Residency Training Base, National Health Commission Clinical Pharmacist Training Base, National Advanced Stroke Center, and Chinese Chest Pain Center. The hospital achieved an A+ rating in the 2023 National Tertiary Public Hospital Performance Assessment, ranking in the top 10% nationwide.
