Changzhou First People's Hospital, founded in 1918 in the heart of the historic city of Changzhou, has developed over a century into a Grade A tertiary comprehensive hospital with comprehensive departments, strong technical capabilities, advanced medical equipment, and high academic standards. Listed as the Third Affiliated Hospital of Suzhou Medical College in 1995 and renamed the Third Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University in 2000, the hospital covers nearly 75,000 square meters with a building area of nearly 320,000 square meters. With 2,980 approved beds and 2,744 actually open beds, the hospital employs 3,941 staff members including 1,043 with senior professional titles, 226 with doctoral degrees, and 1,031 with master's degrees. The hospital features 45 clinical departments and 8 medical technology departments, with 21 provincial-level key clinical specialties including urology, gastroenterology, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, hematology, oncology, medical imaging, and medical laboratory, forming 4 municipal clinical medical centers in oncology, neurosurgery, medical imaging, and nuclear medicine. The hospital holds a leading position in international medical services, handling 69.2% of foreign patient visits in Changzhou, the highest in the city, having established 24 medical centers in cooperation with institutions in France, Germany, and Canada, and collaborating on the UKeMED project with Cambridge University Hospital. The hospital introduced the fourth-generation Da Vinci robotic surgical system, completing 856 surgeries by February 2024, and is equipped with advanced equipment including PET/CT, MRI, DSA, and ECT. As a National Standardized Residency Training Base, National Clinical Pharmacist Training Base, and Jiangsu Provincial Demonstration Postdoctoral Workstation, the hospital plays a vital role in medical talent training.
