About the Hospital
Lianyungang Dongfang Hospital, founded in 1939, is the only designated foreign hospital in Jiangsu Province and the sole municipal tertiary comprehensive hospital in eastern Lianyungang. As a strategic cooperation hospital of Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital and an affiliated hospital of Nanjing Medical University Kangda College, it provides comprehensive medical, teaching, and research services. The hospital holds a unique position in international healthcare, having been designated as a foreign patient hospital in 1959, serving international patients continuously for over 67 years and treating more than 50,000 patients from over 40 countries including Russia, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The hospital comprises three campuses: the main hospital, Xuwei Campus, and Haigang Campus, featuring 44 clinical and medical technology departments, 16 inpatient wards, 4 provincial key specialties (including oncology), 26 municipal key specialties, 6 municipal treatment centers, and a dedicated foreign patient diagnosis and treatment center. The oncology department collaborates with Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital and Nanjing University Affiliated Drum Tower Hospital through 8 professor workstations. The hospital employs 879 staff members, including 798 health professionals, 268 senior title holders, and 151 with master's or doctoral degrees. Located at the eastern starting point of the New Eurasian Land Bridge and adjacent to the Lianyungang Free Trade Zone, the hospital serves as a key node for the Belt and Road Initiative. The hospital has received numerous honors including National Electronic Medical Record System Level 5 certification and "Jiangsu Provincial Civilized Unit" for five consecutive terms.
