About the Hospital
Xiamen University Xiang'an Hospital is a tertiary A-level non-profit public hospital jointly built by the Xiamen Municipal Government and Xiamen University. As the only directly affiliated hospital of Xiamen University, it officially opened in April 2019 and achieved tertiary A-level status in 2024. The hospital upholds Xiamen University's motto of "Self-improvement, Perfection" and the founding philosophy of "Excellence in Medicine, Benevolence in Heart," aiming to become "the Southeastern Pillar of Medical Excellence" while serving Xiamen, Fujian, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and radiating to Southeast Asia. The hospital operates two campuses: Xiang'an Campus (main campus) and Siming Campus, with the Xiang'an Campus covering 240,000 square meters, planning 3,000 beds, and a building area of 156,800 square meters. Currently, 51 clinical and medical technology departments are open with 1,000 beds. The hospital is the first in Xiamen to hold both liver and kidney transplant qualifications, with liver transplant volume ranking first in Fujian for five consecutive years, having completed 216 liver transplants and 242 kidney transplants. It performed the first liver-kidney combined transplant, first re-liver transplant, and first pediatric liver transplant in Southwest Fujian. As Fujian's only provincial-level emergency medical rescue base and National Emergency Medical Rescue Team unit, the hospital leads the province in air emergency medical rescue cases, accounting for 62% of national coastal air rescues. In collaboration with the East China Sea Second Rescue Flight Team, it conducts maritime and air rescue operations radiating to Taiwan and Southeast Asia. The hospital has 3 provincial clinical key specialties (Liver Transplant, Ophthalmology, TCM Geriatrics), 6 academician chief experts, 3 Changjiang Scholars, 13 doctoral supervisors, and 47 master's supervisors, with over 700,000 outpatient visits in 2023. It is among the first batch of National Clinical Teaching Training Demonstration Centers and a Xiamen Integrated Chinese-Western Medicine Flagship Hospital project.
