About the Hospital
Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University Xiamen Branch is a major livelihood project jointly built by Fujian Province, Xiamen City, and Fudan University along with its affiliated Zhongshan Hospital. It opened for trial operation in August 2017 and became the first project unveiled in the first batch of National Regional Medical Centers in China. Located in Wuyuan Bay, Xiamen City, the hospital covers a total area of 7.12 hectares with a Phase I building area of 175,000 square meters and a Phase II research and education building of 34,000 square meters, with 800 approved beds. It is a modern tertiary A-level comprehensive hospital fully operated and managed by Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University under a homogenized model. The hospital upholds Fudan Zhongshan Hospital's "patient-centered" philosophy and advocates core values of "rigor, pragmatism, unity, dedication, innovation, and care," developing with a "major specialty, minor general" approach that leverages 18 national key specialties from Shanghai headquarters, focusing on cardiac, vascular, hepatic, pulmonary, renal, and gastrointestinal diseases. The hospital operates over 40 clinical and medical technology departments, featuring 17 celebrity physician studios named after academicians including Fan Jia and Ge Junbo, with all clinical and medical technology department heads concurrently serving as directors from Shanghai headquarters. Approximately 120 medical experts and management personnel are stationed long-term in Xiamen, achieving seamless integration of medical diagnosis and treatment between Shanghai and Xiamen. In 2025, the hospital established its International Medical Department in an independent area on the 14th floor of Building 1, providing Shanghai expert appointment services and MDT consultations for complex and rare diseases, serving international patients from Southeast Asia and other regions, and has filled over 30 technical gaps in Xiamen and Fujian's medical field.
