The First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University

The First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University, founded in August 1937 with its predecessor as "Fujian Provincial Hospital" established by patriotic overseas Chinese Mr. Hu Wenhu, is a large comprehensive tertiary Grade A hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, and preventive healthcare, shouldering the vital mission of healthcare services for the Minnan-Southwest region. Upholding the motto of "Patient First, Quality First" and carrying forward over eighty years of medical heritage, the hospital has been rated A+ for consecutive years in the national tertiary public hospital performance assessment (top 2-3% nationally), ranking among the top 100 hospitals in China (81st-86th place). On October 22, 2015, it became the first hospital in Fujian Province to pass JCI academic medical center certification with the highest score among domestic comprehensive hospitals, making it the 10th academic medical center hospital in China to obtain JCI certification. On August 28, 2017, it passed HIMSS EMRAM (inpatient) Level 7 certification, and in June 2018, it passed HIMSS O-EMRAM (outpatient) Level 7 certification, becoming the first hospital in China to pass both HIMSS inpatient and outpatient dual Level 7 certifications, holding national leadership in both medical quality and healthcare information technology. With 2,500 authorized beds across multiple campuses including the main campus, Siming campus, Xinglin campus, Gulangyu campus, Xiangan campus, and Haicang campus, the hospital has 4 national clinical key specialties (Pediatric Critical Care, Nursing, Oncology, Neurosurgery), 25 provincial clinical key specialties, and approximately 4,600 staff members, including about 1,500 with senior professional titles and about 350 with doctoral degrees. Following JCI international standards, the hospital provides multilingual services for foreign patients and supports international medical insurance direct billing. As China's first smart hospital to receive HIC Level 7 and five-star hospital certification, it provides convenient smart medical services. The hospital serves as an important clinical teaching base for Xiamen University's medical education, undertaking undergraduate, graduate, and residency training programs, and has produced numerous outstanding medical professionals for the nation.
