Xiamen Chang Gung Hospital

Xiamen Chang Gung Hospital, established in May 2008, is a tertiary A-level comprehensive hospital founded by Mr. Wang Yung-ching of Formosa Plastics Group to give back to mainland China. It is currently the only Taiwan-funded hospital in Fujian Province to achieve Grade-A tertiary accreditation. Located in Haicang District, Xiamen, the hospital operates 43 clinical specialties with over 1,500 employees, serving approximately 3,000 patients daily. Leveraging the medical resources of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan, more than 60 Taiwanese specialists visit monthly to provide consultation services. The hospital has established a "Cross-Strait Medical Referral Platform" and operates the only proton therapy consultation and referral clinic in mainland China, providing a green channel for mainland patients seeking treatment in Taiwan. Pioneering the "Medical Insurance + Notarization" service nationwide, the hospital directly handles Taiwan's National Health Insurance reimbursement for Taiwanese compatriots, having processed 211 cases to date—the only facility in Haicang offering such services. The hospital innovates in medical-nursing integration, having established the first hospital-based nursing home in China in 2014, with a new 420-bed Xiamen Chang Gung Wellness Cultural Village expected to open in early 2026, creating a cross-strait medical-nursing integration demonstration base. The hospital serves as an affiliated hospital of Huaqiao University and a teaching base for Fujian Medical University, Xiamen University, and Xiamen Medical College.
