Mengla County People's Hospital, established on March 7, 1954, is the largest secondary Grade-A comprehensive public hospital in Mengla County, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, integrating medical care, prevention, health care, and teaching. Known as the "Gateway Hospital" on the China-Laos border, it is located at No. 27 Kangfu Road, Mengla County, covering an area of 33 mu with 300 approved beds and 327 actual open beds. The hospital employs 668 staff members, including 585 medical professionals and 47 with senior professional titles. It operates 38 clinical and medical technology departments, with infectious diseases department rated as a provincial key specialty, pediatrics and obstetrics as provincial key specialty cultivation projects, and critical care medicine, imaging, and emergency as prefecture-level key specialties. As a demonstration hospital for China-Laos cross-border medical cooperation, the hospital has employed full-time Lao language translators since 2013, established a 24-hour bilingual consultation desk, and opened a green channel for Lao ambulances entering China. In 2025, it treated 13,201 foreign patients, with Lao patients accounting for 97.5%, reducing emergency communication time from 45 minutes to 12 minutes. The hospital has signed cooperation agreements with six Lao hospitals, conducting technical training and personnel exchanges, achieving a transformation from "patient cross-border" to "technology cross-border" medical services. Equipped with 1.5T MRI, 64-slice spiral CT, 4D ultrasound, laparoscopic systems, and other advanced equipment, it can perform hip replacement, meningioma resection, thoracoscopic surgery, urological minimally invasive surgery and other high-difficulty procedures, with many techniques leading in the county and surrounding areas.
