Kunming Calmette International Hospital

Kunming Calmette International Hospital is a comprehensive tertiary Grade-A hospital integrating medical care, teaching, and research. As Kunming's first hospital serving foreign patients, it was founded by the French in 1914 and has developed over a century, inheriting French medical traditions and forming a distinctive character combining Chinese and Western medicine with an international perspective. The hospital spirit of "Benevolence and Excellence" has earned it recognition as an important medical institution in organ transplantation in Yunnan Province. With a main campus and the Calmette campus, the hospital covers 2.53 hectares and 8 hectares respectively, with a building area of 220,000 square meters, 2,100 beds, over 40 clinical departments, and over 2,000 employees. Liver and kidney transplantation are featured specialties as a national-level designated center with rich experience in organ transplantation. Ten specialties including Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Cardiology, Anesthesiology, and Clinical Nursing are provincial key specialties. As Kunming's first international hospital, Calmette International Hospital has signed cooperation agreements with internationally renowned medical institutions including Paris Descartes University (France), Sanford Health (USA), and E-DA Hospital (Taiwan), and is a cooperation unit with the Laos Ministry of Health, providing quality medical services for foreign and cross-border patients. With over 1.2 million annual outpatient visits and over 60,000 annual hospitalizations, it has received honors including Yunnan Provincial Civilized Unit and Kunming Medical Ethics Construction Advanced Unit.
