The First People's Hospital of Yunnan Province (Kunhua Hospital) is a large comprehensive tertiary Grade-A hospital integrating medical care, research, teaching, emergency rescue, and international medical services, positioned as the provincial regional medical center designated by the Yunnan Provincial Health Commission. The hospital fulfills national-level functions as a construction unit of the National Respiratory Regional Medical Center, National Emergency Medical Rescue Team construction unit, and South and Southeast Asia Medical Technology Training Base, serving as an International Emergency Rescue Center network hospital. Founded in April 1939 during the Anti-Japanese War as "Kunhua Hospital," it became an affiliated hospital of Kunming University of Science and Technology in 2011, inheriting the Kunhua spirit of "Virtue, Benevolence, Excellence, Sincerity, Innovation, Integrity," holding a leading position in Yunnan's medical industry. The campus includes the General Hospital and East Campus, spanning 50,000 square meters with 300,000 square meters of building area, 2,000 licensed beds, 3,570 open beds, with the East Campus planning 2,000 beds for phased operation by the end of 2025.
