About the Hospital
Hunan Want Want Hospital is a modern large-scale tertiary comprehensive hospital integrating medical care, prevention, teaching, healthcare, rehabilitation, and emergency services. It is the first Taiwan-funded sole proprietorship hospital in China and a Hunan Provincial foreign-related medical service institution. Approved by the Ministry of Health in 2002 and officially operating in 2005, the hospital upholds the philosophy of "People-oriented, Service Supreme" and has established a disciplinary system centered on emergency critical care medicine, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics. Located in Yuhua District on People's East Road, the hospital is equipped with modern medical facilities and has more than 20 clinical and medical technology departments including internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, orthopedics, urology, and cardiothoracic surgery. The International Medical Department was established in 2009, and the hospital passed JCI accreditation in 2013, becoming the first Taiwan-funded sole proprietorship hospital in China to receive this certification, marking its international medical service standards. The International Medical Department has served patients from over 100 countries, receiving over 1,000 foreign patients annually, providing services in Chinese, English, French, Japanese, and Russian, with volunteer translators covering over 20 languages. The hospital has direct billing agreements with over 30 international medical insurance companies and is a designated hospital for over 10 international emergency rescue organizations including International SOS. A US-trained physician serves as the International Medical Department director, with designated windows for foreign patient registration and payment, providing 24-hour full English accompaniment service. The hospital has received honors including Hunan Provincial Advanced Unit for Foreign-Related Medical Services.
