About the Hospital
The First Hospital of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine is the largest tertiary Grade-A traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hospital in Hunan Province. As the National TCM Service Characteristic Export Base approved by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is the first TCM hospital in Hunan Province to receive this honor. Founded in 1963, the hospital has developed over six decades with the spirit of "Inheriting Essence, Innovating with Integrity" and is acclaimed as "the Leader of TCM Hospitals in Hunan Province." Located at 95 Shaoshan Middle Road, Yuhua District, Changsha City, the hospital has over 1,500 beds, 30+ clinical departments, and 2,000+ employees. Leading specialties include Acupuncture and Moxibustion, TCM Internal Medicine, TCM Surgery, TCM Gynecology, TCM Pediatrics, TCM Orthopedics, and Tuina. The International Medical Department was among the first in Hunan's public TCM hospitals to launch premium medical services, engaging in TCM international cooperation since the 1980s. The International Telemedicine Consultation Center provides remote medical services to patients from over 20 countries. As the First Clinical College of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine, it trains doctoral and master's students with over 2 million annual outpatient visits. The hospital has received honors including Top 100 TCM Hospitals in China and National TCM Clinical Research Base.
