About the Hospital
Hunan Provincial Second People's Hospital (Hunan Brain Hospital), founded in 1950, is a tertiary Grade-A general hospital directly affiliated with the Hunan Provincial Health Commission. Located at No. 427 Furong Middle Road Section 3, Tujiachong, Changsha, the hospital has developed over 76 years into a co-construction unit of the National Mental Medicine Center, a National Advanced Stroke Center, and a National Health Commission Brain Stroke Screening and Prevention Base. It concurrently serves as the Hunan Provincial Mental Medicine Center, Hunan Provincial Mental Health Center, and Hunan Provincial Clinical Laboratory Center, among 11 provincial-level clinical and quality control centers. The hospital has 1,400 authorized beds and 1,601 actual beds, 52 clinical departments, 12 medical technology departments, and 14 diagnosis and treatment centers. Its Psychiatry and Psychology Department is a National Clinical Key Specialty Construction Project, while Neurology and Neurosurgery hold significant advantages within the province. The hospital currently employs approximately 1,440 staff members, including over 400 senior professionals and 4 doctoral supervisors. Upholding the hospital spirit of "Excellence, Prudence, Diligence, Respect, and Benevolence," the hospital has developed a pattern of "One Body, Two Wings, Integration of Chinese and Western Medicine." In September 2025, the Mental Health Service Department (International Medical Department) was officially inaugurated to provide professional mental health services for domestic and international visitors.
