About the Hospital
Heilongjiang Provincial Hospital, established on September 8, 1911, is the largest Grade-A tertiary comprehensive hospital in Heilongjiang Province integrating medical care, teaching, scientific research, rehabilitation, preventive healthcare, and community services. The hospital has three historical origins: the Heilongjiang Provincial Official Hospital founded in 1911 by the provincial military governor's office, Kong's Hospital established in 1935 by Dr. Kong Xianwu who earned his doctorate in the United States, and the Songjiang Provincial Hospital founded in 1948. In 1988, with equipment aid from Japan, it was named "Heilongjiang Provincial Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital"; in 2002, it became the Sixth Clinical Medical College of Harbin Medical University; in November 2024, it was designated as "Heilongjiang China-Russia Friendship Hospital." The hospital covers an area of 56,800 square meters with a building area of 244,000 square meters, has 1,804 beds, and employs 2,652 staff members including 65 PhDs and 563 masters. It operates two campuses: Xiangfang and Nangang. The hospital houses the National Clinical Key Specialty of Gastroenterology, with provincial key specialties including gastroenterology, respiratory medicine, infectious diseases, anesthesiology, and cardiovascular medicine. Digestive endoscopy for biliary and pancreatic diseases is at the national leading level, with dermatology, ophthalmology, and stomatology also being outstanding. The hospital is a National Advanced Stroke Center, Provincial Chest Pain Center, and Provincial Critical Care Maternal Center, as well as a national standardized residency training base. The hospital has had friendly cooperation with Liberia for over 30 years, and in 2020 was designated by the National Health Commission as a China-Africa counterpart hospital cooperation mechanism unit.
