About the Hospital
The Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University is a comprehensive tertiary Grade-A hospital integrating medical care, teaching, and research. Founded in 1954, it is one of the earliest medical school affiliated hospitals in Heilongjiang Province. The hospital has 4,800 beds and over 5,700 employees, including 2 Changjiang Scholars and 1 expert recognized by the National Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Talents Project. The hospital holds 20 National Clinical Key Specialty construction projects, with Cardiovascular Medicine as a national key discipline. It was among the earliest hospitals in China to perform heart transplant surgery, with organ transplantation types, techniques, and quality leading the nation. On January 2, 2025, Heilongjiang Province's first International Medical Center was officially established at the hospital, filling the gap in international medical centers in the province. The International Medical Center upholds the 5H service philosophy: professional healthcare (Hospital), star-rated service (Hotel), warm and welcoming environment (Home), dedicated care (Heart), and pleasant experience (Happiness), providing international patients with multilingual service windows, intelligent guidance systems, international nursing standards, and full-process translation accompaniment. The hospital serves as a designated medical support hospital for the 9th Asian Winter Games. In 2024, it signed friendly cooperation agreements with 13 Russian medical institutions including the Primorsky Krai Second Clinical Hospital and the Far Eastern Federal University School of Medicine. In February 2025, it successfully performed its first surgery for a Russian patient from Vladivostok, committed to building a regional health hub radiating across Northeast Asia.
