Chongqing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, founded in 1902 and reorganized in 2008 through the merger of the original Chongqing Hospital of TCM and Chongqing First People's Hospital, is the largest and most powerful tertiary Grade-A TCM hospital in Chongqing, integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, and public welfare functions. The hospital has two campuses: Nanqiaosi Campus in Jiangbei District and Daomenkou Campus in Yuzhong District, covering 163 mu with nearly 200,000 square meters of building area, 1,800 authorized beds (2,300-3,000 open beds), 44 clinical departments, and 10 medical technology departments, serving over 2 million outpatient visits annually. The hospital possesses 5 national clinical key specialties (Dermatology, Acupuncture, Oncology, Nephrology, Nursing), 2 national regional TCM (specialty) diagnosis and treatment centers (Dermatology, Acupuncture), and 11 key specialties under the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It serves as the China-Singapore TCM International Cooperation Base (Chongqing) and the China-Barbados TCM Center. The Dermatology Department is the Chongqing Dermatology and Venereology Research Institute, Chongqing Integrated Chinese-Western Dermatology Prevention and Treatment Center, and Chongqing Dermatology Clinical Medicine Research Center, with outstanding advantages in integrated Chinese-Western prevention and treatment of skin diseases. The Acupuncture Department is the Chongqing Branch of the National Acupuncture Clinical Center, with distinctive features in acupuncture rehabilitation. The Emergency Department is a TCM Emergency Clinical Base under the State Administration of TCM and Chongqing TCM Emergency Characteristic Diagnosis and Treatment Center, having established four green channels for acute chest pain, stroke, poisoning, and trauma with a rescue success rate above 80%. As one of the first batch of foreign-related medical service points in Chongqing and a postdoctoral research workstation, the hospital has received honors including the National May 1st Labor Medal, National Civilized Unit, and National Health System Advanced Collective.
