About the Hospital
Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, founded in 1956 when the Department of Pediatrics of Shanghai First Medical College relocated to Chongqing, is one of the first four pediatrics departments established after the founding of New China. It has developed into a large tertiary Grade-A children's specialty hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, and preventive healthcare. The hospital is the leading institution of the National Children's Regional Medical Center (Southwest) and holds a leading position among children's specialty hospitals in China. It has eight national clinical key specialties including Critical Care Medicine, Pediatric Respiration, Neonatology, Pediatric Surgery, Clinical Nursing, Cardiovascular Medicine, Nephrology, and Neurology, with outstanding capabilities in pediatric congenital heart disease interventional treatment, congenital malformation correction, and pediatric tumor surgery. Upholding the motto "Everything for Children's Health" and the spirit of "Rigorous, Truth-seeking, Innovative, Dedicated," the hospital undertakes important functions including national children's disease diagnosis and treatment guidance and pediatric talent training. With two campuses—Yuzhong and Liangjiang—and 2,480 authorized beds, the hospital serves over 3 million outpatient and emergency visits annually. As one of Chongqing's first foreign-related medical service hospitals, it has treated pediatric patients from around the world, providing professional international medical services. As a doctoral degree authorization point in pediatrics with a postdoctoral research station, the hospital has trained numerous pediatric medical professionals for the country, receiving National Civilized Unit and National May 1st Labor Medal honors.
