About the Hospital
Daping Hospital (Army Medical Center) was reorganized from the former Army Medical University Third Affiliated Hospital (known as Daping Hospital) and the Field Surgery Research Institute. It is the only large-scale comprehensive military medical and health institution in the entire army that integrates medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research. Located in Yuzhong District, Chongqing, the hospital is among the first batch of tertiary Grade A hospitals in China, a designated healthcare hospital for central leaders visiting Chongqing, one of the first batch of foreign-related designated hospitals in Chongqing, and a designated healthcare hospital for seven consulates in Chongqing. With 2,600 authorized beds, the hospital covers an area of nearly 200,000 square meters with a total building area of over 360,000 square meters. The Field Surgery Research Institute is the only specialized research institution for war trauma in the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and is also the largest research base in China's trauma field with the most injury types, the most complex injury conditions, the most comprehensive professional settings, and the largest scale. The hospital features key specialties including field surgery, orthopedics, general surgery, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, urology, cardiology, respiratory medicine, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and neurology, with annual outpatient and emergency visits exceeding 1.5 million. As a military hospital, it provides quality medical services to civilian patients during peacetime while maintaining combat readiness medical support duties.
