About the Hospital
Hua Mei Hospital, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Ningbo No.2 Hospital), established in 1843 by American Baptist missionary Dr. D.B. McCartee, is one of the earliest Western medicine hospitals established in China, serving as a large-scale comprehensive tertiary A-level hospital integrating medical care, teaching, research, prevention, and healthcare. Upholding the motto of "Benevolence, Sincerity, Truth-seeking, and Innovation" and carrying forward over 180 years of medical heritage, the hospital is a leading medical institution in Ningbo's healthcare field, consistently ranking among the top in Zhejiang Province's comprehensive hospital evaluation. The hospital has three campuses including North Campus, South Campus, and Northern Campus, with over 2,000 beds, more than 50 clinical departments, over 3,000 staff members including more than 400 with senior professional titles, and over 500 with doctoral and master's degrees. The Department of Medical Imaging and the Department of Oncology are national clinical key specialties; Burn Surgery, Respiratory Medicine, and Nursing have been selected for the China Hospital Science and Technology Evaluation Metrics Top 100; the Liver Disease Center and the Department of Infectious Diseases are provincial key specialties with outstanding diagnostic and treatment capabilities. As a network hospital of International SOS Emergency Rescue Center, the hospital has an International Medical Service Department (Room 200, 2nd Floor, Building 7), dedicated to serving foreign nationals, with direct billing partnerships with multiple domestic and international medical insurance companies, providing full-process English reception and accompanying services.
