West China Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University, established in 1907, is China's first specialized dental hospital. Founded by Dr. Ashley W. Lindsay from Canada, who served as the first dean until 1950, it is recognized as the birthplace of modern Chinese dentistry. As the National Center for Stomatology, housing the National Key Laboratory of Oral Diseases and the National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases, the hospital assumes top-level design and coordination functions for China's stomatology field.
