West China Second University Hospital, Sichuan University (West China Women's and Children's Hospital)

West China Second University Hospital, Sichuan University, also known as West China Women's and Children's Hospital, originated from Renji Women's Hospital founded in 1896 and was established as an independent hospital in 1987. It is a women's and children's specialty hospital under the National Health Commission and serves as the National Children's Regional Medical Center for Southwest China. Upholding the service philosophy of "People-oriented, Patient First," the hospital has ranked first nationwide among obstetrics and gynecology hospitals (including maternal and child health hospitals) in the national tertiary public hospital performance assessment for five consecutive years since 2018. The hospital operates two campuses—Huaxi and Jinjiang—with 1,580 licensed beds, 3,865 staff members including 134 professors and 217 associate professors, 81 doctoral supervisors and 146 master's supervisors, and 39 clinical departments and 7 medical technology departments providing comprehensive healthcare services for women and children throughout their life cycles. Both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatrics are National Key Disciplines and doctoral degree authorization points. The hospital holds 12 National Clinical Key Specialty construction projects, leading the nation in gynecologic malignancy treatment, neonatal care, reproductive medicine, and prenatal diagnosis, and performed the world's first single-port robot-assisted radical hysterectomy. The National Center for Birth Defects Monitoring of China is based at the hospital, covering 140 million people across 31 provinces with 783 member hospitals. In 2021, the hospital recorded 3.39 million outpatient visits, 88,000 discharges, 126,000 operations, and 18,000 deliveries. The medical alliance network covers 334 hospitals, and the hospital has received honors including Baby-Friendly Hospital, National May 1st Labor Medal, and National Advanced Collective for Female Workers.
