About the Hospital
Sichuan Academy of Medical Sciences · Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, founded in 1941 as the affiliated hospital of National Central University Medical School relocated to Chengdu during the War of Resistance, was among the first batch of tertiary A-level hospitals accredited in 1989. In 2002, it merged with Sichuan Academy of Medical Sciences, and in 2013 became the affiliated hospital of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. Upholding the hospital motto of "Virtue, Excellence, Precision, and Strength," the hospital achieved A++ rating in the 2026 national tertiary public hospital performance monitoring, placing it among the top tier of China's public hospitals. The hospital operates 4,500 beds with over 7,000 staff members, including 1,108 senior experts, 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and 33 national-level talents. It comprises multiple campuses including Qingyang, Caotang, Longquan, Wenjiang, and High-tech zones, forming an integrated development pattern centered on clinical medicine, healthcare, education, and research. The hospital possesses 16 National Clinical Key Specialties and 7 Sichuan Clinical Medical Research Centers, leading the nation in laboratory medicine, nephrology, neurology, organ transplantation, and cardiology. It has obtained all National Health Commission qualifications for solid organ transplantation and performed China's first implantation of a domestically produced artificial heart. The International Medical Department (Special Needs Center) and Caotang Campus International Special Needs Department provide services for international patients. The hospital has established cooperative relationships with renowned medical institutions in 28 countries and regions, dispatched over 100 medical personnel for international medical aid missions, and serves as the supporting institution for Southwest China's only National Health Emergency Rescue Team, receiving honors including National Civilized Unit, National Top 100 Hospital, and National Earthquake Relief Heroic Collective.
