About the Hospital
Panzhihua Central Hospital, founded in 1965 as Dukou Hospital, was established by medical teams from Shanghai, Northeast China, Sichuan, and Tianjin Blood Research Institute to support the Third Front Construction initiative. It is a modern large-scale tertiary Grade A comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, preventive healthcare, health management, emergency rescue, maternal and child healthcare, medical-nursing integration, and internet hospital services. Upholding the hospital mission of "Benevolence and Skill, Human-centered Excellence" and the development philosophy of "Party-led governance, quality foundation, education-driven growth, talent strengthening, management excellence, cultural shaping, and environmental beautification," the hospital serves the healthcare needs of approximately 15 million people across Southwest Sichuan and Northwest Yunnan regions. It passed tertiary Grade A accreditation in 2003, was designated as Sichuan Provincial Critical Care Regional Medical Center in 2023, and Sichuan Provincial Orthopedic Regional Medical Center in 2025. Operating under a "two-campus" structure, the Huashan Campus covers 92.59 acres with nearly 2,000 open beds, while the Huacheng Campus under construction plans 980 beds, totaling over 250,000 square meters of building area. The hospital employs 2,264 staff members, including 2,092 medical professionals, 361 senior specialists, and 306 doctors and master's degree holders. It maintains two provincial regional medical centers, 14 provincial medical key specialties, and has established five national emergency critical care centers including National Chest Pain Center, National Advanced Stroke Center (Five-Star rated), National Heart Failure Center, National Trauma Center, and National Atrial Fibrillation Center. As a government-designated hospital for foreign patients, it supports cross-provincial medical insurance direct settlement, providing healthcare services for Panzhihua's "International Sunshine Health Tourism Destination" initiative, receiving national honors including National Advanced Party Organization, National Poverty Alleviation Advanced Collective, National Civilized Unit, National Health System Advanced Collective, and National Red Cross Model Unit.
