About the Hospital
Chengdu Women's and Children's Central Hospital traces its origins to the Sichuan Provincial Maternal and Infant Health Hospital founded in 1944. In 2011, it was formed through the substantive merger of Chengdu Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Chengdu Children's Hospital, Chengdu Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, and Chengdu Ninth People's Hospital. It is the first Grade-A tertiary maternal and child health institution in Sichuan Province, affiliated with the School of Medicine of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and a national-level high-quality maternal and infant safety service unit. The hospital upholds the mission of "everything for the health of women and children" and practices the "seven-haves" model. It primarily undertakes the core functions of treating critically ill pregnant women and newborns in Sichuan Province and Chengdu. The hospital operates the main center, Shiye Street Campus, Taisheng South Road Campus, and Dongchenggen Street Campus, with a building area of 221,459 square meters, 1,840 authorized beds, and approximately 3,100 staff members including about 700 with master's degrees or above and about 500 with senior professional titles, with 3 doctoral supervisors and 48 master's supervisors. Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatrics are National Clinical Key Specialties. Reproductive medicine core indicators rank among the national forefront, and the neonatology department's treatment radius covers 700 kilometers. The hospital serves approximately 2.5 million outpatient visits annually with about 18,000 annual deliveries. It has received A++ rating in the national public hospital performance evaluation for maternal and child health for three consecutive times. The hospital has established deep cooperation with internationally renowned institutions including Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in the United States. Over 60 foreign experts have provided guidance at the hospital, and more than 100 staff members have been trained in Europe and America. It is a National Standardized Residency Training Base and Sichuan Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base, with Pediatric Internal Medicine ranked third in Southwest China for three consecutive years in Fudan University's specialty reputation ranking.
