About the Hospital
Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital, founded in 1910 and affiliated with Tongji University, was among the first batch of tertiary A-level comprehensive hospitals designated by the Ministry of Health in 1993, holding a prominent position among China's public hospitals. Guided by a century-old medical ethos and a mission to safeguard health, the hospital operates 1,860 beds across its Jing'an main campus and Qiujian Road campus, encompassing numerous clinical departments including Bone Tumor Surgery, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, and Gastroenterology. It holds three National Clinical Key Specialties and one Shanghai Top Priority Clinical Medicine Key Discipline, and co-builds the Ministry of Education's "Key Laboratory of Molecular Genetics of Arrhythmias." With over 2,600 staff members, including 322 senior-title professionals and a doctoral degree ratio of 25.6%, the hospital demonstrates robust teaching and research capabilities as a university-affiliated institution. Its three flagship specialties—Bone Tumor Surgery, Cardiology, and Ophthalmology—are nationally renowned, with Bone Tumor Surgery leading the country in minimally invasive spinal surgery and complex bone tumor procedures. The hospital has also developed distinctive strengths in comprehensive disease-course management for colorectal, endometrial, and thyroid cancers. As an early pioneer of international medical services among public hospitals, it offers services in seven languages—English, French, Japanese, German, Spanish, Arabic, and Russian—with its international service line at +86-21-66307026, and maintains direct billing partnerships with multiple insurance companies, providing seamless access for patients worldwide.
