The Second Hospital of Shandong University / The Second Qilu Hospital of Shandong University

The Second Hospital of Shandong University (The Second Qilu Hospital of Shandong University), founded in 1997, is a tertiary A-level hospital directly affiliated with the National Health Commission and Shandong University. In 2011, it became the first hospital in China to pass the new version of tertiary hospital accreditation standards. In 2019, it was selected as one of the first batch of member units of the National Regional Medical Center jointly established by the National Health Commission and provinces, and in 2020, it was selected as a Regional Medical Center of Shandong Province. The hospital operates three campuses: Central Campus, Southern Campus, and Northern Campus, with multiple National Clinical Key Specialties including the Clinical Laboratory Medicine Center (ranked 4th nationally in Fudan specialty rankings), Urology Surgery (the first National Clinical Key Specialty in Shandong Province), and Nephrology Department (the only National Clinical Key Specialty in nephrology in Shandong Province). The Clinical Laboratory Medicine Center serves as the President-elect unit of the Chinese Society of Laboratory Medicine, has passed ISO 15189 accreditation, and conducts over 500 laboratory tests. Urology Surgery, founded in 1998 by Professor Xu Chunxiao, established the Shandong University Institute of Urology in 2002, leading domestically in da Vinci robot-assisted and laparoscopic minimally invasive treatments, and publishes the English journal "Current Urology" indexed by PubMed and other international databases. Nephrology Department, founded in 1997 by Professor Guan Guangju, was the first doctoral program in nephrology in Shandong Province and houses the Shandong University Institute of Kidney Disease. The hospital maintains extensive cooperation with medical institutions in Sweden, the United States, Canada, Japan, and Australia, serving as a modern comprehensive hospital integrating medical care, education, and research with significant disciplinary advantages and academic influence in laboratory medicine, urology, and nephrology.
