About the Hospital
Yanbian Korean Medicine Hospital is the only comprehensive Korean ethnic medicine hospital in China, formed through the merger of four prefecture-level public medical institutions including the former Yanbian Second People's Hospital, Yanbian Tumor Hospital, Yanbian Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital, and Yanbian Korean Medicine Hospital. It also operates as the Second People's Hospital of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture and Yanbian Tumor Hospital of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture. The hospital is a designated unit for the construction of a National Key Ethnic Medicine Hospital, one of the first batch of National TCM Inheritance and Innovation Engineering Key Ethnic Medicine Hospital Construction Units, and a National Ethnic Medicine Regional Diagnosis and Treatment Center Construction Unit. The hospital covers a total area of 29,800 square meters with a total building area of 62,900 square meters, offering 650 approved beds with 921 employees, including 52 senior professionals, 200 associate senior professionals, 277 intermediate professionals, and 112 doctoral and master's degree holders. It houses 25 clinical departments, 6 medical technology departments, and 18 inpatient wards, with a daily average of 2,000 outpatient and emergency visits. As an ethnic medicine hospital featuring Korean medicine, the hospital adopts an integrated medical model combining Chinese, Korean, and Western medicine, incorporating traditional Korean therapies such as Chinese-Korean herbal decoctions, medicinal pastes, Taiji acupuncture, ear acupressure, bronze scraping, and fire needle moxibustion into clinical departments. The Brain Disease Department is a National Ethnic Medicine Advantageous Specialty and Jilin Province TCM Advantageous Specialty, while the Endocrinology Department and Acupuncture Department are Jilin Province TCM Key Specialties. In tumor prevention and treatment, the hospital fully leverages traditional medicine's role in reducing toxicity and enhancing efficacy during radiotherapy and chemotherapy, post-operative rehabilitation, and prevention of metastasis and recurrence. The hospital serves as the affiliated unit of the Korean Medicine Branch of the China Association of Ethnic Medicine, the National Ethnic Medicine Standardization Research and Promotion Base, and the Jilin Province Ethnic Minority Culture and Sports Inheritance Base, undertaking important tasks in Korean medicine inheritance, innovation, and standardization research, and has compiled the "National TCM Administration Ethnic Medicine Literature—Korean Medicine Series."
