About the Hospital
China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University is a comprehensive tertiary Grade-A hospital integrating medical care, teaching, and research. As the National Trauma Regional Medical Center, National Orthopedics Regional Medical Center, and National Emergency Medical Rescue Base, it serves as a leading medical institution in Northeast China. Founded in 1949 as the Affiliated Hospital of the First Military Medical University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, it was incorporated into Jilin University in 2000 along with the former Norman Bethune Medical University. With four campuses covering 372,700 square meters, 3,650 beds, 82 medical departments, and over 2.8 million annual patient visits, the hospital holds 15 National Clinical Key Specialties, with leading specialties including Orthopedics, Cardiovascular Surgery, and Thoracic Surgery. It has achieved A+ ratings for five consecutive years in the National Performance Evaluation of Public Tertiary Hospitals. The hospital innovatively launched an Online International Medical Department, allowing foreign patients to use passports for online registration, appointment booking, and payment via WeChat official account, with specially selected physicians proficient in one or more foreign languages providing comprehensive, safe, reliable, and convenient international medical services. The hospital collaborates with 22 world-leading universities across 10 countries and regions, including Oxford University, Cambridge University, and the University of Tokyo. It is the first unit in China to lead an Aviation Emergency Medical Rescue Consortium, a China Chest Pain Center Demonstration Center, and a National Advanced Stroke Center.
