About the Hospital
The Second Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University, established in 1985, is the only tertiary Grade-A orthopedic specialty hospital in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It undertakes important tasks in medical care, rehabilitation, health services, and teaching and research for Inner Mongolia Medical University. The hospital is the founding member of the Inner Mongolia (Orthopedics) Hospital Alliance and a designated master's degree training base for orthopedic postgraduate students by the State Council. The hospital integrates the Autonomous Region Orthopedic Research Institute, the Autonomous Region Orthopedic Quality Control Center, and the National Bone Disease Prevention Base, with technical cooperation with the Bethune Medical Development Association of Canada. Located at No. 59, Kerqin South Road, Saihan District, Hohhot, the hospital covers 254 acres with 1,000 beds and 20 clinical wards. The orthopedic department is subdivided into 8 sub-specialties including spine surgery, trauma surgery, hand and microsurgery, joint surgery, rehabilitation medicine, sports medicine, pediatric orthopedics, and bone disease and tumor, with 3 National Clinical Key Specialties and 3 Autonomous Region Leading Disciplines. The hospital has 1,184 staff members including 975 health professionals, with 154 senior and 148 deputy senior title holders, 72 PhDs and 315 Masters. The hospital leads the region in severe spinal deformity, complex cervical spine and spinal cord injury, minimally invasive spine surgery, microsurgical tissue transplantation and replantation of severed limbs and fingers, achieving national and international standards in certain areas. The Health Management Center provides health checkup services for Mongolian VIPs, with service radius extending to Mongolia and over 20 surrounding provinces and cities. Annual discharges reach nearly 30,000, surgeries nearly 29,000, and outpatient visits exceed 320,000. The hospital has been rated Grade A (highest level) in the National Tertiary Public Hospital Performance Assessment for 6 consecutive years, ranking 3rd nationwide twice. It has received honors including National Top 100 Trusted Hospital and Autonomous Region People's Heart Hospital.
