About the Hospital
Zhengzhou Sixth People's Hospital, also known as Henan Provincial Infectious Disease Hospital, was founded in 1953 with origins tracing back to the wartime temporary hospital of Henan University School of Medicine in 1942. After more than seventy years of development, it has become a modern tertiary Grade-A infectious disease specialty hospital integrating medical care, teaching, research, prevention, healthcare, and rehabilitation. As the provincial infectious disease hospital, it undertakes the important function of infectious disease prevention and treatment for the entire province and is a member unit of the National Clinical Research Center for Infectious Diseases, a Ministry of Health hepatitis prevention health education implementation base, and an AIDS clinical training base. The hospital upholds the service philosophy of "benevolence, sincerity, professionalism, and excellence," covering 48,000 square meters with a building area of 133,300 square meters, 1,480 approved beds, 63 clinical and medical technology departments, and over 1,900 employees including 277 senior professionals. With tuberculosis, AIDS, liver disease, and infectious diseases as four core specialty areas, the hospital has built a comprehensive treatment system coordinating internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and critical care medicine. The International Medical Department opened in December 2015, making it the earliest outpatient department in Henan Province serving foreign nationals, offering English-language consultations, appointment-based services, consultation systems, full-process accompanying services, and VIP priority channels. The hospital has received honors including the Henan Provincial Advanced Collective for COVID-19 Prevention and Control and Henan Provincial Civilized Unit.
