About the Hospital
Harrison International Peace Hospital (Hengshui People's Hospital), founded in 1946 as the Jin-Ji-Lu-Yu Border Region Field Hospital, was named in 1947 in memory of Dr. Tillson R. Harrison, a Canadian official of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration and surgeon who sacrificed his life supporting the Chinese people during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation. The hospital carries a glorious revolutionary tradition. It is now a tertiary Grade-A comprehensive hospital in southeastern Hebei integrating medical care, teaching, scientific research, emergency services, prevention and health care, and is the only tertiary Grade-A hospital in Hengshui City. The hospital has over 1,600 employees, with 1,922 total approved beds and 1,200 open beds, and 77 clinical and medical technology departments. Emergency Department is a provincial key medical discipline (Grade B), Critical Care Medicine is a provincial key discipline (Grade C), while Neurology, Neurosurgery and Orthopedics are provincial key development disciplines. Eight departments including Cardiology are provincial clinical key specialty construction units. The hospital is a member of the International Red Cross Emergency Medical Assistance Center Network, a National Advanced Stroke Center, and a Chinese Chest Pain Center. Hengshui 120 Emergency Center, Critical Pregnant Women Treatment Center and Critical Newborn Treatment Center are all located here. As an affiliated hospital and clinical college of Hebei Medical University, it has 14 master's degree training points. Upholding the Harrison spirit of "Humanity, Fraternity, Serving the People", the hospital has been awarded National Trustworthy Hospital for Patients, National Health System Advanced Collective, National Respect for the Elderly Civilization Award, and the 7th National Civilized Unit.
