About the Hospital
Zhanjiang Central People's Hospital was founded in 1938 (originally Cunjin Bridge Public Hospital) and is the oldest and largest Grade A tertiary general hospital in western Guangdong. As a key construction unit of Guangdong High-level Hospital, it guards the health of more than 20 million people in the region. In October 2017, the hospital relocated to its current site. The new campus covers 216 acres with a building area of 342,000 square meters, setting the record for the largest single medical building in Guangdong Province. The hospital has 3,000 planned beds with 2,980 beds in operation, and 77 clinical and medical technology departments. It has approximately 3,022 employees, including over 300 with master's or doctoral degrees, 657 with senior professional titles, and 8 experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council. The hospital has 8 provincial key clinical specialties (Hematology and Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Gastroenterology, Critical Care Medicine, Emergency Center, ENT-Head and Neck Surgery, Obstetrics, Burn and Plastic Surgery). The Stroke Center is certified as a National Five-Star Advanced Stroke Center (2020). The Hematology Department leads frontier exploration in cell and gene therapy through two provincial research platforms. Emergency Medicine serves as the Guangdong Poison Control Zhanjiang Branch and Zhanjiang Snakebite Treatment Research Center. The hospital has ranked in China's Top 100 Prefecture-level City Hospitals for three consecutive years.
