About the Hospital
Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University is a Grade A tertiary general hospital invested by Shenzhen Municipal Government and managed by Southern Medical University. It is the first "Famous Hospital" project under Shenzhen's "Three Famous Projects" healthcare initiative. Located in Qianhai Free Trade Zone, the hospital covers an area of 82,412 square meters with a building area of 171,204 square meters and a planned capacity of 2,500 beds (Phase II adding 1,500 beds under construction, Phase I opened 1,101 beds). Adhering to the motto of "Virtue and Medical Excellence, Self-improvement", the hospital integrates medical care, teaching and research, aiming to become a research-oriented hospital with reputation in the Bay Area, status in China and influence internationally. As Shenzhen Clinical Medical College of Southern Medical University, it undertakes undergraduate and graduate medical education, with over 2,000 employees, of which 66.93% hold senior or intermediate professional titles. Ranked first in Shenzhen public hospital performance assessment in 2022, passed international hospital accreditation in 2024 (among the first batch), certified as National Advanced Stroke Center, Chest Pain Center, and Thrombosis Prevention and Treatment Center. Gastroenterology and Traditional Chinese Medicine are Guangdong Provincial Key Clinical Specialties; Neurology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, and Nursing are Shenzhen Municipal Key Medical Disciplines. The International Medical Department on the 17th floor provides VIP wards and specialist outpatient services with panoramic views of Qianhai Bay. In 2025, the hospital launched the city's first "Medical Insurance + Commercial Insurance Patient Service Center", supporting seamless cross-border medical insurance claims for Hong Kong residents, and began accepting Hong Kong Elderly Health Care Vouchers in August.
