About the Hospital
Shenzhen Children's Hospital, established in 1997, is the first tertiary grade-A specialized children's hospital in Guangdong Province. Positioned as a children's medical service center in South China, it undertakes core functions including diagnosis and treatment of complex pediatric diseases, children's health management, and pediatric medical education and research. As a branch center of the National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Diseases, with Pediatric Traditional Chinese Medicine designated as a "Flagship" department for integrated Chinese-Western medicine by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the hospital undertakes national-level pediatric clinical research and talent training tasks. Upholding the service mission of "Everything for Children" and practicing the hospital motto of "Sincere Care, Learned and Diligent," the hospital's pediatrics ranks among the top ten nationwide and first in Guangdong Province (2024), making it a key construction unit in the second batch of high-level hospitals in Guangdong Province. The hospital operates on a "two-campus" model: the Futian Campus covers 43,000 square meters with 170,000 square meters of floor area and 1,331 open beds; the Longhua Campus officially began trial operations in October 2024, covering 40,000 square meters with 310,000 square meters of floor area and 1,500 planned beds, making it the largest single-building children's specialized campus in China. The hospital has over 30 clinical and medical technology departments including Pediatrics, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Neonatology, Hematology and Oncology, Pediatric Respiratory Medicine, Pediatric Neurology, Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, Pediatric Traditional Chinese Medicine, Epilepsy Center, and Pediatric Cardiovascular Center, covering all pediatric specialty fields. The hospital currently employs 3,014 staff members (as of December 2025), including 187 doctoral degree holders, 923 master's degree holders, and 523 senior professionals. Hematology and Oncology has the highest volume of hematopoietic stem cell transplants among children's hospitals nationwide, and Pediatric Surgery is a Guangdong Province high-level clinical key specialty. The hospital is undergoing international hospital accreditation in February 2026 based on the "International Hospital Accreditation Standards (China)" (2021 edition). As an important platform for Shenzhen-Hong Kong medical cooperation, the hospital has an International Pediatric Center providing multilingual services in English, Japanese, Korean, and Arabic, supporting direct billing with international insurers such as MSH and BUPA, and approved for the Hong Kong-Macau Drug and Device Access policy to use advanced pharmaceuticals and devices available in Hong Kong and Macau. Through the "Shenzhen Medical Three-Name Project," the hospital has introduced 19 high-level medical teams from home and abroad, undertaking pediatric resident standardized training, serving as an important base for pediatric medical talent training in Shenzhen. In 2025, outpatient and emergency visits reached 2.4949 million, with 88,000 annual discharges and over 30,000 annual surgeries.
