Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital

Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital (Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences) was founded in 1946, with its predecessor being Guangzhou Central Hospital. The hospital name was inscribed by Marshal Ye Jianying. After eighty years of development, it has become a large modern tertiary grade-A comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, and healthcare. The hospital is a candidate for the National Comprehensive Medical Center, with 17 national key clinical specialties and 36 provincial key clinical specialties. Guangdong Cardiovascular Institute, established in 1958, is the largest cardiovascular disease diagnosis and treatment center in southern China and the only WHO Collaborating Centre for Cardiovascular Training and Research in China. The Organ Transplant Department holds transplantation qualifications for heart, lung, liver, and kidney, with heart transplantation volume ranking among the top in the country. The Interventional Oncology Department, established in 1984, is one of the earliest established interventional departments in China, performing nearly 5,000 interventional procedures annually. The Xiehe Advanced Medical Center covers over 5,000 square meters and has served patients from 151 countries and regions, providing 24-hour multilingual translation services and one-on-one accompaniment services. The hospital has provided healthcare services for national leaders including Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, and Deng Xiaoping, and has repeatedly dispatched medical teams to support the Korean War and medical aid to Africa, receiving honors such as National Earthquake Relief Hero Collective and National COVID-19 Fighting Advanced Collective.
