About the Hospital
Peking University Shenzhen Hospital, located in Futian Central Area, was built and opened at the end of 1999 with investment from the Shenzhen Municipal Government, originally named "Shenzhen Central Hospital." In October 2000, a cooperation agreement with Peking University pioneered China's first close hospital-university partnership model, incorporating the hospital into Peking University's affiliated hospital management system and renaming it to "Peking University Shenzhen Hospital." It has now developed into a modern comprehensive Grade-A tertiary public hospital serving as Shenzhen's regional medical center. The hospital covers 59,000 square meters with a total floor area of nearly 250,000 square meters and 1,851 beds, featuring a "fenceless hospital" design with 100% underground parking and evergreen gardens year-round, earning it the reputation of "Shenzhen's Most Beautiful Hospital." It houses 56 clinical and medical technology departments with over 3,238 employees, including 871 senior professionals and 1,156 master's and doctoral degree holders. The hospital boasts 2 national key clinical specialties (Orthopedics as a National Clinical Key Specialty Construction Project, and Sports Medicine as both a National Clinical Key Specialty and National Sports Science Popularization Base). Urology is a National Key Discipline of the Ministry of Education (co-built with Peking University Institute of Urology). Stomatology is a Guangdong Provincial High-level Key Clinical Specialty. The hospital achieved A+ ratings in the National Performance Assessment of Tertiary Public Hospitals for five consecutive years, ranking 38th nationally in 2022. The International Medical Department's Special Outpatient Clinic on the 6th floor provides direct billing services with multiple commercial insurance companies and weekend outpatient services for Greater Bay Area residents. In 2023, the hospital recorded 2.9351 million outpatient visits, over 100,000 discharges, and 184,000 surgeries, with an average length of stay of 5.48 days. The hospital motto is "Benevolence and Skill, Knowledge and Love." > Data sources: Shenzhen Municipal Government (sz.gov.cn), Peking University Shenzhen Hospital official website (pkuszh.com.cn), as of 2023.
