About the Hospital
Jiangmen Central Hospital, founded in 1912, is a tertiary Grade A comprehensive hospital integrating medical care, scientific research, teaching, prevention, healthcare and rehabilitation. It is the Jiangmen Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. As the largest comprehensive hospital in Jiangmen, it undertakes national functions of medical technology guidance and emergency rescue in western Guangdong, serving as the region's emergency and critical care center and medical technology guidance center. Adhering to the spirit of "Benevolence in Saving Lives, Sincerity in Innovation," the hospital leads in western Guangdong. In 2024, the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Special Needs Outpatient Clinic" was launched, pioneering cross-border practice by Hong Kong and Macao doctors, marking a long history of international services. The hospital operates multiple campuses including the main hospital, Pengjiang Branch (Jiangmen Second People's Hospital), and Jianghai Branch (Jiangmen Jianghai District People's Hospital), with a new campus under construction. The total area covers approximately 100,000 square meters with a floor area of about 150,000 square meters, operating over 2,000 beds. It has over 40 clinical medical and technical departments covering all medical disciplines. The hospital employs over 3,000 staff, including more than 400 senior professionals and over 60 doctoral and master's supervisors. It has 1 national key clinical specialty construction project (Obstetrics), 10 Guangdong provincial key clinical specialty construction projects, and 19 Jiangmen municipal key clinical specialty construction projects. Obstetrics and Reproductive Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Urological Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Critical Care Medicine, Ophthalmology, Medical Imaging, and Rehabilitation Medicine are core specialty departments. The hospital is equipped with advanced medical equipment including medical linear accelerators, PET-CT, 3.0T MRI systems, and 256-slice CT scanners. It routinely performs advanced procedures including tumor ablation therapy, ultrasound interventional diagnosis and treatment, and various minimally invasive surgeries. As a teaching hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, it undertakes medical talent training including undergraduate, graduate, and resident standardized training programs, serving as a National Resident Standardized Training Base and Sun Yat-sen University Postdoctoral Research Base. In 2024, it signed a medical cooperation agreement with Macau Kiang Wu Hospital, inviting Hong Kong and Macao doctors for regular consultations, ward rounds, and case discussions, strengthening cooperation in specialty development, medical services, and talent training. The hospital is a National Advanced Unit for Spiritual Civilization Construction and Guangdong Provincial Unit for Quality Maternal and Child Safety Services, with annual outpatient visits of approximately 2 million and annual discharges of about 100,000.
