About the Hospital
Huizhou Central People's Hospital was founded in February 1950, formerly known as Dongjiang Hospital established by the remaining personnel of the Baiyun Hospital of the Guangdong-Guangxi-Hunan Border Column of the People's Liberation Army. After the "administrative region to city" reform in 1988, it was renamed Huizhou Central People's Hospital and is now the Huizhou Central Hospital Affiliated to Guangdong Medical University and Sun Yat-sen University Affiliated Huizhou Hospital. As a Guangdong high-level hospital and provincial regional medical center construction unit, it undertakes national functions of medical technology guidance and emergency rescue in eastern Guangdong, serving as the region's emergency and critical care center and medical technology guidance center. Adhering to the spirit of "Benevolence in Saving Lives, Sincerity in Innovation," the hospital leads among prefecture-level city hospitals in Guangdong Province, ranking 28th in the 2021 "Top 100 Prefecture-level City Hospitals in China" list, and 167th in the 2022 national tertiary public hospital performance evaluation with consecutive "A" ratings for 5 years. The hospital operates multiple campuses including Nanhu Campus (main hospital), Xiapu Campus, Zhongkai Campus, and a research and teaching base, with Jinshan Campus under construction. The hospital operates 2,517 beds. It has over 50 clinical medical and technical departments covering all medical disciplines including internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and emergency critical care. The hospital has 1 national clinical key specialty construction project, 19 Guangdong provincial key clinical specialties, and 29 Huizhou municipal key specialties, with Cardiovascular Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Nephrology, Urological Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Oncology, and Ophthalmology as core specialty departments. The hospital is equipped with advanced medical equipment including medical linear accelerators, PET-CT, 3.0T MRI systems, and 256-slice high-end CT scanners, with total equipment value exceeding 1 billion yuan. It routinely performs advanced procedures including IVF, artificial insemination, various minimally invasive interventional surgeries, endoscopic diagnostic and treatment techniques, and emergency critical care. As a teaching hospital of Guangdong Medical University, it undertakes medical talent training including undergraduate, graduate, and resident standardized training programs, serving as a National Resident Standardized Training Base. Annual outpatient visits reach approximately 2.8 million, with annual discharges of about 120,000 and annual surgeries of about 50,000. The hospital is a Baby-Friendly Hospital, International Emergency Rescue Center Network Hospital, and National Top 100 Hospital, receiving the honorary title of "National Advanced Collective for Fighting COVID-19" in 2020.
