About the Hospital
The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital (HKU-SZH) is a major comprehensive public hospital built by the Shenzhen municipal government with a total investment of approximately 4 billion RMB, officially opened on July 1, 2012, serving as a model of Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation in healthcare. Upholding the philosophy of "People-centered, Caring for Life", the hospital has a total floor area of 367,000 square meters, currently operates 2,000 beds with plans to increase to 3,000 beds. The hospital has introduced modern management models and international standard medical technology from the University of Hong Kong, with major departments including General Practice, Oncology Center, Orthopedics, Organ Transplant, Cardiology, Neurology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, and Surgery. Leveraging HKU's internationally renowned clinical specialties, Centres of Excellence have been established in Cardiovascular Diseases, Oncology, Orthopedics, Reproductive Medicine, and Prenatal Diagnosis. HKU-SZH attained ACHS (Australian Council on Healthcare Standards) accreditation in 2015 and National Class 3A Hospital Accreditation in 2017. In June 2018, it was selected as one of the "High Level - Summit Program" hospitals of Guangdong Province. As the only pilot medical institution for the "Drugs & Equipment Introduced from HK/Macau" policy, the hospital can introduce clinically urgent drugs and medical devices listed in Hong Kong and Macao but not yet approved by the National Medical Products Administration. As of December 2021, 13 drugs and 3 medical devices had been approved (official website data). The International Medical Center provides high-quality advanced medical services and health assessments of international standards with bilingual services and direct billing support for multiple international insurance companies. The Huawei Li Zhi Yuan Community Health Center caters for diverse and personalized healthcare needs of local residents, cross-border Hong Kong and Macao citizens, and expatriates.
