About the Hospital
Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University, founded in 1958, is a Grade 3A comprehensive hospital specializing in neuroscience and geriatric medicine. The hospital serves as the National Center for Neurological Disorders, China International Neuroscience Institute, and National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases, forming a "one body, two wings" development pattern. Inheriting the spirit of "Sincerity, Diligence, Strictness, and Excellence," the hospital became China's first medical institution to receive the China Quality Award. As a cradle for neuroscience talent in China, the hospital has 1,159 beds and 11 national clinical key specialties, with neurology and neurosurgery as national key disciplines. The Neurology Department features 19 subspecialties and 30 specialized clinics, while Neurosurgery performs over 10,000 surgeries annually. Led by Academician Ji Xunming of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the hospital pioneered innovative technologies including brain-computer interface treatment for paralysis, spinal cord injury repair, and iNSC-DAP autologous cell transplantation for Parkinson's disease. The 5G Mobile Stroke Treatment Platform won the "Best Connected Health Mobile Innovation Award" at the World Mobile Communication Conference. As the First Clinical Medical College of Capital Medical University, the hospital trains over 2,000 medical professionals annually and serves as the National Center for Brain Injury Evaluation.
