Beijing Tongren Hospital, affiliated with Capital Medical University, was founded in 1886 as a comprehensive Grade-A tertiary hospital with ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology designated as national key disciplines by the Ministry of Education. The hospital serves as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Prevention of Blindness and a WHO Collaborating Centre for Prevention of Deafness, fulfilling important international functions. Throughout its 138-year history, the hospital has upheld the spirit of "benevolence and excellence, continuous improvement" and has evolved into an integrated medical-scientific complex combining healthcare, education, research, prevention, and international exchange. The hospital currently employs over 3,900 staff members with 1,611 beds, 67 clinical and medical technology departments, and covers an area of 336,000 square meters. Ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, allergy (rhinitis), and geriatrics are designated as National Clinical Key Specialties.
