About the Hospital
Beijing Hospital (Ministry of Health Beijing Hospital) is a comprehensive tertiary Grade-A hospital directly under the National Health Commission and the National Geriatric Medicine Center. Founded in 1905 as the former German Hospital, it serves as a key cadre healthcare base for the central government. The hospital has long undertaken medical healthcare missions for central leaders and foreign heads of state, being one of China's earliest hospitals to provide international medical services, having successfully completed nearly 20 foreign heads of state medical missions. Adhering to the motto of "Loyal Healthcare, Excellence Pursuit," it focuses on senior cadre healthcare and geriatric medicine research, forming distinctive disciplinary strengths. Located in Dongdan, Dongcheng District with 1,200 beds, 30+ clinical departments, and 2,000+ employees, it has strong capabilities in Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, Neurology, and Geriatric Medicine. The hospital excels in elderly patient care, having successfully performed over 4,600 surgeries on patients over 70 years, with the oldest at 102 years. The Special Needs Medical Department provides high-end services with specialized centers including Hypertension-Cardiovascular Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center and Parkinson's Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center. As a teaching hospital for Peking University Health Science Center, it trains doctoral and master's students with over 1 million annual outpatient visits. The hospital has received National Civilized Unit and National May 1st Labor Medal honors.
