About the Hospital
Founded in 1956, Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences is the world's largest center for cardiovascular disease diagnosis and treatment, simultaneously bearing the dual national mandates of the National Cardiovascular Disease Center and the National Clinical Research Center for Cardiovascular Diseases. Upholding the Fuwai spirit of "Dedication, Excellence, Innovation, Commitment," the hospital ranks first nationally in both cardiology and cardiac surgery, offering the full spectrum of cardiovascular care — from coronary intervention, arrhythmia management, and coronary bypass to valve surgery, congenital heart disease repair, great vessel surgery, and heart transplantation. With 800 beds, over 20 clinical departments, and more than 1,500 employees, the hospital established its Special Needs Medical Center as early as 2004, serving high-end patients, compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, and foreign nationals in China. The center features 38 to 40 single rooms and provides five core services including multidisciplinary expert rounds led by academicians, "one-stop" green channel priority, and specialized cardiac health examinations, with a dedicated international patient appointment hotline. As the Cardiovascular Disease Institute of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the hospital has cultivated generations of doctoral and master's students, handles over 600,000 outpatient visits annually, and has been honored with the National Civilized Unit and National May 1st Labor Medal.
