About the Hospital
Beijing Friendship Hospital, Capital Medical University, founded in 1952 and originally named Beijing Soviet Red Cross Hospital, is a large tertiary Grade-A comprehensive hospital integrating medical care, teaching, and research, and serves as the National Clinical Medicine Research Center for Digestive System Diseases. The hospital specializes in digestive system disease diagnosis and treatment, with digestive endoscopy techniques leading nationally, and possesses outstanding capabilities in organ transplantation and tropical disease and liver disease diagnosis and treatment, housing specialized institutions including the Liver Disease Center and Tropical Disease Research Institute. Adhering to the motto "Benevolence, Sincerity, Truth-Seeking, Innovation," the hospital undertakes important national functions including digestive system disease diagnosis and treatment guidance and tropical disease prevention and control research. With three campuses in Xicheng, Tongzhou, and Shunyi, the hospital has 1,600 authorized beds, over 50 clinical departments, and more than 4,000 employees. The hospital has long provided international medical services, establishing the International Medical Center in 2011 across all three campuses with over 30 mid-to-high-end single rooms, 24-hour English phone service, international insurance direct billing, and an International Health Examination Center and International Medical Aesthetic Center, forming a comprehensive international medical service system. As a teaching hospital of Capital Medical University, it trains doctoral and master's students with over 2 million annual outpatient visits, and has received National Civilized Unit and National May 1st Labor Medal honors, being one of Beijing's first international healthcare pilot institutions.
