About the Hospital
Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital is the birthplace of oncology in China, one of the first National Clinical Medical Research Centers for Malignant Tumors, and one of the four major cancer specialty hospitals in China. It is a Grade A tertiary cancer specialty hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, and prevention. The hospital currently operates two campuses—the main campus and Airport Campus—with over 2,300 open beds, ranking among the largest cancer specialty hospitals in China. As the cradle of Chinese oncology, the hospital achieves internationally advanced levels in diagnosing and treating common malignancies including breast cancer, lung cancer, esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, lymphoma, and bone and soft tissue tumors, having trained numerous oncology professionals and made significant contributions to China's cancer prevention and treatment. The International Medical Department, officially opened in August 2025, is located on the 7th floor of Building D for outpatient services and the 24th floor of Building C for inpatient services, establishing a multidisciplinary team (MDT) diagnosis and treatment system, intelligent diagnostic system, multilingual service system, and cross-border insurance direct billing mechanism to provide high-quality medical services for international patients. The hospital is a member of the WHO International Agency for Research on Cancer (IACR) and the International Union Against Cancer (UICC), has established sister hospital relationships with MD Anderson Cancer Center, Aizawa Hospital in Japan, Moffitt Cancer Center, and Fox Chase Cancer Center in the United States, and maintains extensive international cooperation with over 30 countries and regions including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, France, and Germany.
