Xijing Hospital of Air Force Medical University is a comprehensive tertiary Grade-A military hospital integrating medical care, teaching, and research. As the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University, it was established in 1954 through the merger of the former Fourth Military Medical University Affiliated Hospital and the former Fifth Military Medical University Affiliated Hospital. Located at No. 127 Changle West Road, Xincheng District, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, the hospital covers an area of 430 mu with a building area of approximately 500,000 square meters and 3,000 approved beds. It ranks 5th nationally in comprehensive strength in the Fudan Hospital Rankings and boasts two academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering: Academician Fan Daiming (Gastroenterology) and Academician Dou Kefeng (Hepatobiliary Surgery). The hospital has 9 national key disciplines and 17 national clinical key specialties (military construction projects), with Gastroenterology ranking 1st nationwide for 8 consecutive years, while Cardiovascular Surgery and Plastic Surgery lead the nation. The Digestive Disease Hospital is the world's largest, most advanced, and technically strongest digestive disease specialty hospital. The hospital pioneered numerous world-first and national-first technologies, including the world's first ten-finger replantation in 1986, China's first facial transplant in 2006, and China's first human uterus transplant in 2015.
