Tangdu Hospital of Air Force Medical University is a comprehensive tertiary Grade-A military hospital integrating medical care, teaching, and research. As the Second Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University, it was established in 1939 in Yan'an, originally named "Yan'an Central Hospital," later renamed "Northwest People's Hospital," and officially named "Tangdu Hospital" in 1985. Located at No. 1 Xinsi Road, Baqiao District, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, the hospital has a medical building area of 241,000 square meters, 3,309 beds, 84 specialty departments, and performs 52,026 surgeries annually. The hospital has 4 national key disciplines, 5 national clinical medical research center branches, 4 military clinical key specialties, and 3 PLA medical research institutes. Neurosurgery leads the nation in functional brain disease treatment, with extensive experience in stereotactic surgery for Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, and other functional disorders. The Infectious Disease Department is a national key discipline with rich experience in diagnosing and treating various infectious diseases, especially critical cases. Thoracic Surgery is nationally advanced in thoracoscopic minimally invasive surgery and comprehensive lung cancer diagnosis and treatment. The hospital pioneered numerous world-leading technologies, including the world's first tissue-engineered tracheal transplant for tracheal defects and the world's first endovascular repair of completely transected axillary artery. The hospital is equipped with advanced equipment including 7.0T MRI, PET/MR, fourth-generation da Vinci surgical robot, high-dose-rate rotating modulated medical linear accelerator, and magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound.
